ALYSHA BRILLA

2024 Canadian Screen Award nominee and three-time JUNO Award nominated songwriter, composer, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer, and artist Alysha Brilla creates healing music by weaving together global roots sounds. Brilla composed the score for Fawzia Mirza’s acclaimed feature film The Queen Of My Dreams, a work that showcases her talent for emotionally resonant, culturally rich compositions.

As a songwriter and musician, Brilla has collaborated with a stellar lineup of artists, including The Black Eyed Peas, Bedouin Soundclash, Digging Roots, No Doubt, Paula Sofia, and three-time Grammy-winning mastering engineer Emily Lazar. In 2013, Brilla made history as one of the first self-produced female artists to receive a JUNO Award nomination, setting a new standard in Canadian music. She later won Producer of the Year at the 2018 Independent Music Awards for her album Rooted, with her music featured across film, television, and Spotify Editorial Playlists.

With her original music, Brilla has toured the world, performing at renowned festivals like WOMAD and captivating audiences across South America, Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America. As a 2022 Keychange Artist selected by the European Commission, Brilla’s unique ability to blend technology, music, and community has made her an influential voice in the industry. She has served as a resident artist and guest lecturer at institutions around the world, including the School of Audio Engineering in Australia, University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University.
