The Studio

Sunny Jam Records

Sunny Jam Records, Inc. is a unique, locally owned and female operated LGBTQ+ and youth focused community creative arts studio. Sunny Jam Records, Inc was founded in 2011 by artist-entrepreneur Alysha Mohamed after assessing a gap in support for women in the technical roles of music production and studio businesses. Alysha (CEO) has run Sunny Jam Records Studio out of Kitchener-Waterloo for the past seven years; creating training, education and employment opportunities in music production and sound engineering with a focus on women, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC artists of all ages.

Mission

Sunny Jam Records Studio is founded on core values of equity and diversity. All voices matter and age, experience, race, gender or education do not factor into the value of a person in the studio space.

We especially encourage and support female, BIPOC, differently-abled led projects.

Vision

We want to create meaningful employment opportunities for women in our community. We want to innovate where art meets healing both on an individual and community level; providing tools to make our city a better place for all and we have a strong and sound vision to make it happen. We see the current gap as a strong business opportunity as many female and non-binary community members and artists are looking specifically to work with female and non-binary studios, sound technicians and business owners. We will be leading this change by offering a physical space for recording, workshops and mentorship as well as being able to offer these services remotely from the innovative hub.
